The Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco) said the nine-hour and 45-minute blackout has been scheduled to facilitate the simulation and testing of  the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines’ deluge water spray system and emergency diesel generator set in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Because of the NGCP simulation and testing, Cepalco said it would facilitate the Department of Public Works and Highways’ request for a pole relocation at Villarin-Calamansi Drive in Carmen and at Pasil Road in Bonbon. It said it would also conduct a line revision in Kauswagan and a pin-post installation in Patag.

The  power interruption would affect portions of Villarin St. in Carmen, Patag, and Bulua.

Some areas like Kauswagan, Bonbon and Bayabas would experience power interruptions from 30 minutes to two hours.

Lower Balulang, Macanhan and the rest of Barangay Carmen would only experience power interruption for 30 minutes in the morning, and for another 30 minutes in the afternoon.

Cepalco however said that the power supply may be restored immedediately without notice when NGCP and Cepalco’s line and switching works are completed earlier than scheduled.
