THE leader of a group of evacuees that have been camping out at the capitol grounds since Sunday night yesterday sounded alarm bells over an alleged bungled abduction and abuse of a 10-year girl here before the first light of day yesterday.

Sariza Acosta, spokesperson of a group of evacuees from Lagonglong town, said indigenes staying at the capitol grounds were struck with fear after they found out what happened to the child and how she escaped.

The girl “Mary” (not her real name) was among the nearly 160 residents of Kamansi, Banglay in Lagonglong who fled to the capitol grounds for fear of getting caught in the crossfires.

Her 46-year old mother said her daughter and another female went out of the capitol park in search for food at around 3 am.

She said two motorcycleiding men approached the two evacuees while they were on on Don Apolinar Velez Street.

“Giingnan dayon sila sa ako anak nga magpalit silag pagkaon. Ang suspect mikonbinser dayon sa ila nga ipasakay sa motor kay dunay tindahan sa unahan,” she said.

Mary, in an interview, she said, she rode the motorcycle, trusting that the two men were good people. She said her companion was left behind.

But Mary said one of the still unidentified men offered to give her P20 on the condition that she go with them to the place where they were supposedly staying. She said she just kept quiet because she was already afraid.

She said she was brought near a river, and pointed to the direction of Burgos Street.

There, according to Mary, one of the men started fondling her private parts, prompting her to run away when she saw an opportunity.

But Mary said the suspects chased and caught up with her because they rode on a motorcycle.

She alleged that she was forced to ride the motorcycle again until they crashed because the road was slippery.

“Nangugas dayon sila sa ilang mga kamot nga nangapitaan pati ang cellphone busa naka higayon kog dagan na pud palayo sa ila,” said Mary, adding that she ran as fast as she could until she saw an elderly woman who helped her seek police help.

As of this writing, Mary was undergoing a medical examination with the assistance of the police in Divisoria.
