11 people hurt as bus, trucks collide on Misor highway

TWO drivers and nine passengers were hurt after a Super 5 bus and two trucks figured in a three-way collision on the highway in Purok 1, Matangad, Gitagum town in Misamis Oriental, on  Wednesday evening.

SPO1 Medwin Maagad identified the injured truck drivers as Balayo Bolkia, 52, of Lanao del Sur, and Wewin Ocon, 43, of Quezon, Bukidnon.

Both drivers were rescued while wedged in their respective seats after the collision, and were rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center.

Also rescued were nine injured passengers identified as Dennis Fabricante, Felipe Ocaya and Rosel Omongos, Amor Tomanong, Leonie Marikit, Ruby Fuentes, Leo Lim, and Jewel Jim Macabasa.

Initial investigation disclosed that the Super 5 bus, bearing license plates KWA-919 bus and driven by Noriel Barredo, 48, of Iligan City, collided head-on with an oncoming truck, bearing license plates JVN 281 and driven by Ocon.

Another cargo truck, driven by Bolkia and bearing license plates RLD-540, reportedly tracked away from the bus but hit the rear portion.
