BUTUAN City — Two suspected drug pushers were killed in two separate anti-illegal drugs operations here in Caraga region, reports from the Bayugan City Police and Police Regional Office 13 show.

Bayugan City police director Senior Supt. Reynante Sibayton told Gold Star Daily yesterday morning that Bayugan City Police anti-illegal drugs group was supposed to serve a search warrant to the suspected drug pusher in his residence in Purok 8, Barangay Salvacion, Bayugan City at about 1 pm Monday when the suspect allegedly opened fire at the cops.

According to Sibayton this prompted his men to retaliate by firing back that lead to the killing of the suspect.

Sibayton identified the suspected shabu pusher as Jose Nelson Gomes Garbo, 51 years old.

Found and seized from Garbo’s possession were one .45 cal pistol containing live bullets and one huge plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and empty plastic sachets containing traces of shabu now validated and tested at the PRO 13 Regional Crime Laboratory.

In Talacogon town on Sunday evening, a suspected drug pusher was killed by the police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Agustin, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.

Chief Supt. Rolando Felix, PRO  13 director said Rodrick Jay Corvera, alias Jeckjeck, 25, was the target of buy-bust operation around 7:38 pm Sunday.

Report from Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office claimed the suspect drew his gun prompting the police officers to shoot him.

Corvera is included in the illegal drug watch list of the Talacogon Police.

The operatives seized a .38 revolver and four sachets of suspected shabu with estimated weight of 5 grams and street value of P59,000.

Citing the record of the Regional Operations and Plans Division of PRO 13, a total of 214 persons were arrested; six were killed; and P36, 861, 529 worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated since the implementation of Project Double Barrel from July 1 to August 8 in Caraga Region.
