A lightning strike killed two and injured four others in Claveria, Misamis Oriental recently.

Senior Insp. Arlyne Ranario, Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Danny Lebron, 45 and Gregorio Digal, 50, both residents of Santa Cruz in Claveria town.

Ranario added that injured by the same lighting strike was John Paul Gucor, 15, also of Santa Cruz.

Ranario said the three were taking cover from the rain in a hut in Sitio Lapak but were struck by lightning at about 5:50 pm, Friday.

She said Lebron and Digal were declared dead on arrival at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital.

At around 6:35 pm of the same day, Ranario said, Imesesion Panday, 65, Xenia Tali, 13, and Charlie Alpaya, 10, all residents of Barangay Kaliangan, Villanueva town in Misamis Oriental were also struck by lightning.

Ranario said the three victims were released from the Provincial Hospital after they were treated from minor burns.
