AT least two more police superintendents here are in a supposed list of “ninja cops” targeted for liquidation, a former city police director in the region told the Gold Star Daily.

The claim was somehow corraborated by one of the key officials of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office who said the Nov. 20 ambush of Supt. Michael John Deloso has had a chilling effect on officials holding the rank of superintendent.

The two sources, speaking on condition of anonymity due to security concerns, said the information they gathered point to a group that plans to kill police superintendents on mere suspicion of involvement in criminal activities.

The former city police director said at least two Cagayan de Oro-based officials with the rank of police superintendent are in the list of suspected “ninja cops.”

Superindent is a police rank equivalent to the military’s lieutenant colonel.

The former police director served as the same source who alleged that last month’s attempt on the life of Deloso was an attempt at subjecting a suspected “ninja cop” to an extrajudicial killing.

But the other source, a police superintendent, said he has raw information that two more officials would likely suffer the same fate as Deloso’s.

While it’s an “unverified report,” it is enough to make some police officials “restless and paranoid,” he said.

“Duna gani uban nga gabaton nag security escort kay delikado baya mapagkamalan ka,” the superintendent said.

The official called the alleged plot “very unlawful and barbaric.”

“Whatever one’s position in the government is, he has no right to trample on the law,” the official said.

The danger, according to the official, is that those who begrudge their superiors because they are disciplinarians or those envious of others’ accomplishments may take advantage of the situation.

“If they think that one of the police officials has done something wrong, then charge him or her. Let everyone be heard in court rather than take shortcuts,” he said.
