TWO public elementary schools here have declared suspension of classes for a week after both schools incurred heavy damages recently.

Both elementary schools suffered major damages after it was flooded with muds, rocks and other debris on Monday due to the heavy downpour caused by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and a tail-end of a cold front.

In Camaman-an Elementary School, the team was led by Insp. Gerald Shane Gevero, the RPSB platoon leader while in Gusa Elementary School the cleaning operations was led by Insp. Alykhan Hayre Aguam.

Aside from the police officers, private individuals from nearby private establishments also sent their workers and dump trucks to help in the cleaning operations.

Both school officials of Camaman-an Elementary School and Gusa Elementary School has declared a one-week suspension of classes due to major damages in its campuses.

Camaman-an Elementary School principal Caroline Sulit said they would only declare resumption of classes after the cleaning operations and repair to at least 45 classrooms located at the ground floor would be finished.

Affected students population has reached 3,445 pupils from kindergarten to Grade 6.

Sulit said they also received volunteer groups coming from the Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, and barangay officials who also helped in the cleaning and clearing operations.

They are set to declare emergency classes in the coming days allocating three sections in every classroom on the second and third floor level of their new building.

“Estimated more than a millions gyud ang damaged because all permanent records and computers were destroyed,” Sulit said.

An Estimated 70 police officers coming from Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB 10) conducted clearing operations to two elementary schools which were declared totally damaged due to the flashfloods that hit the city recently.

RPSB 10 acting-battalion commander Supt. Danildo Tumanda deployed two teams in Camaman-an Elementary School in Barangay Camaman-an and Gusa Elementary School in Barangay Gusa.

Tumanda said the activity is a continuing activity of RPSB 10 after they also helped in rescue operations on flooded areas during last Monday flashfloods.
