SOME 200 trainees for the Philippine Marine Corps took their oath during the flag raising ceremony at the Misamis Oriental Capitol grounds, this city, yesterday.

Capt. Jieve Ajijul, officer-in-charge of the Marine Corps Mobile Recruitment Team, said the candidate marines will undergo a six-month boot camp training in Cavite after being shipped today.

According to Major Gen. Alvin Parreño, Marine Corps commandant, starting today the candidate marines will be receiving a regular soldier’s salary.

He added that although over a thousand applied for the Marine Corps this year, the 200 candidate marines who took oath yesterday were the only qualifiers.

Parreño hoped that all 200 candidate marines will pass the six-month training in Cavite.

He added that the six-month marine boot camp in Cavite will not be easy.
