THIRTY-FOUR people, including two children, were injured when two passenger buses collided head-on in Zamboanga Sibugay over the weekend.

Chief Supt. Miguel Antonio Jr., Police Regional Office 9 director, said the accident occurred around 5 pm Sunday in Barangay Tigpalay, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Antonio said the two passenger buses were both owned by the Rural Transit of Mindanao Inc. that operates transport services in the northern and western parts of Mindanao.

Antonio said one of the two buses with body number 9502 was driven by Felipe Toloron, 39, while the other with body number 9554 by Wilbert Casaba, 48.

Antonio said Toloron was bound for Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay coming from this city while Casaba was traveling to this city coming from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay when they collided head-on.

He said they collided after Casaba encroached the lane of Toloron while both were negotiating a blind curve traveling on opposite directions in Barangay Tigpalay, Tungawan town.

He said Toloron was badly injured while Casaba sustained minor injuries as a result of the impact.

Antonio said two of the passengers are from Davao City while the others from the different parts of the region.
