Lt. Tere Ingente, 4th Infantry Division spokesperson, said the communist combatants surrendered because of the difficulty they have been experiencing in the hinterlands of Bukidnon.

Ingente added the rebels who surrendered belonged to the NPA’s Guerrilla Front 68.

She said the rebels also surrendered their firearms: an M16 rifle, two M1 Garand rifles, one M1 Carbine rifle, and one cal .30 Enfield rifle.

Ingente said the rebels who surrendered operated in western Bukidnon, specifically the north-western part of the Kitanglad mountain rage which also covers the shared boundaries of the provinces of Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Misamis Oriental.
