Passengers were hurt, including a six-month-old pregnant woman and a person with disability, as the jeepney they were riding crashed into a road side Monday morning.
The vehicle was loaded with farm produce and five passengers when its brake malfunctioned.
The driver, Gerson Ublad, said he was driving the vehicle with plate number KVH-310 at reasonable speed when he noticed something went wrong with the engine.
“Nadunggan ko nalang dayon nga dunay gibuto og namatikdan ko nga di nako maka apply ang brake busa ako nalang gipadaplin og ayo,” Ublad recalled.
It was learned that the jeepney was enroute to Carmen Public Market from Imbatog, Baungon, Bukidnon province when the incident occurred at the junction of Lumbia-Palalan road.
The injured passengers were brought to the JR Borja Memorial City Hospital were: Jenellyn Abella, Daisy Jane Wabe, Melissa Malinawon, and Lilibeth Dumapias, all of Purok 6, Baungon, Bukidnon.
While a certain Rosalie Liwanag, a PWD, was rushed to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center for treatment.
Four of the victims suffered minor bruises and contusions in the different parts of their bodies.
While Liwanag was still under observation by the attending physician.
“Medyo siya grabe kay tanan sinako nga nangka nakapaingon sa iyaha, naipit siya sa liog,” Dumapias told this paper.
Julius Sacal, the jeep fare collector, escaped unhurt as he was able to jump from the jeep before the incident happened.
