NINE to 10 hours of blackout have been scheduled in many areas in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro today as a result of a line rerouting work of the National Grid Corp. Philippines (NGCP).

NGCP spokesperson Elizabeth Ladaga said the scheduled power interruption would affect the Misamis Oriental I Rural Electric Secice Cooperative (Moresco I) and the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco).

Ladaga said the blackout would affect El Salvador city up to some areas in Cagayan de Oro under the Cepalco franchise from 8 am to 5 pm today.

She said the scheduled blackout is due to the construction of a bypass line to facilitate the erection of gantries and structural support of high-voltage equipment for the ongoing Opol substation project.

The work, she explained, would require the shutdown of the Lugait-Cagayan de Oro 69-kv line.

Ladaga however said the specific areas that would be affected  would be determined by Moresco I and Cepalco.

Marilyn Chavez, Cepalco spokesperson, said Cepalco would make use of the NGCP work by conducting its own line maintenance work in the city.

Chavez said 10 hours of blackout would be experienced in some parts of Carmen, including all of Macanhan, up to Lower Balulang, from 8 am to 6 pm.

Chavez said power switching would also result in one hour to one hour and thirty minutes of power interruption in some parts of Kauswagan, Bayabas, and portions of Antonio Luna St., Corrales Ave., Apolinar Velez St., Mabini St., Macahambus St., and Tiano Bros. St. from 8 am to 9:30 am, and again at 5 pm to 6 pm.
