DO those who put the incoming president to the position where is he now still believe that they did what they did for the good of the country?

Mr. Duterte may have his reasons, good or bad, but it seems where the country is heading to is where the 15 million who voted for him wanted to go in the first place.

Mr. Duterte promised to eradicate criminality in three to six months even if he fully knows that it is an impossible task. His plan of recruiting the barangay tanods to do what the police should be doing is a time bomb ticking and waiting to blow in his face.

The expected appointment to his Cabinet of at least four nominees of the Communist Party of the Philippines should ring a bell to everybody, including the 15 million who brought him to Malacanang, now that the country is going to the dogs.

If his mission is simply to destroy the systems that our forefathers fought for and shed blood for, then Mr. Duterte is no better than a Judas who sells his beloved country to the dogs.

His appointment of the son of Manny Villar to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will spell disaster to his anti-corruption campaign.  And what does Manny Piñol know about running the agriculture department of the country?

Those who profusely campaigned for the president-to-be are now scampering for positions in the national government.  And yet the electorate were made to believe that they were volunteers.

Have we elected a local government executive or a national president?

While we can say that we will see how he performs during his first 100 days in office, are we willing to face an uncertain period in the history of the country?

God bless us all.–Romanito Conteras, concerned citizen, romanitoconteras@gmail.com
