POLICE officials in northern Mindanao yesterday said they were still waiting for Camp Crame’s instructions on what to do with dismissed Supt. Michael John Deloso and SPO3 Ernesto Galleto.

Deloso, former chief of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s traffic division, and Galleto were found guilty of gross misconduct by the ombudsman in connection with the case filed by lawyer Ernie Palanan who alleged that the two demanded and received protection money from his organization.

In 2014, the National Bureau of Investigation arrested the two policemen in an entrapment in a hotel here.

Supt. Lemuel Gonda, Camp Alagar spokesman, said the regional office of the National Police would only act on the Deloso-Galleto case once it received a dismissal order from Camp Crame.

Gonda said the ombudsman’s order would be executory even if Deloso and Galleto appealed the case.

“Bisan sila nag-apply og appeal padayon ang ilang dismissal sa service,” he said.

Gonda said in cases such as this, the official order would come from Camp Crame’s Directorate for Personnel Record Management.

“Sa DPRM gyud gikan ang order considering that we are a national agency,” he said.

Deloso is presently reporting for work at the Regional Headquarters Command Assignment Unit  while Galleto is under the Regional Headquarters Service Group, both in Camp Alagar.

Specifically, Deloso works as a “duty officer,” reportedly serving as coordinator when there are activities in Camp Alagar while Galleto has been given the task of guarding the police camp.

“Sa pagka-karon nga wala pa ang order, nagpabilin pa sila sa ilang mga assignment og gihulat nato ang order,” Gonda said.

He said Camp Alagar would monitor the attendance of the policemen while it waits for Camp Crame’s instructions.

“As soon we receive the order, we will immediately give them the advise,” Gonda said.

Gonda said he was unaware if Deloso and Gonda already received copies of the dismisal order from the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices.

He said Camp Alagar, too, has yet to receive official copies of the ombudsman’s ruling.

Deloso served as Cocpo’s deputy director for traffic until he and Galleto were arrested by the NBI during an entrapment in a hotel here in 2014.

They allegedly received an envelope of cash from Palanan given on behalf of the Xavier Heights Jeepney Operators’ and Drivers’ Association Inc. (XHJODAI).

A copy of the dismissal order, dated Dec. 17, 2016, reached Palanan last week and the lawyer showed it on Friday. It was signed by graft investigation and prosecution officer Lyn Llamasares. Deputy Ombudsman Cyril Ramos approved the dismissal order.

In the order, Deloso and Galleto were ordered dismissed, their retirement benefits forfeited, and banned from government service for life. Their government service eligibility were also cancelled.
