The evacuees sought refuge at the village center of Rogongon, said barangay chairman Randy Pugoy.

Pugoy said there were around 200 armed rebels who carried out the ambush on the road near the boundaries of Iligan and Bukidnon.

The ambush killed T/ Sgt. Edgar Andal and wounded Cpl. Raymart Pamplona.

Pugoy has sought aid from the local government. He said the evacuees need food supplies.

He also called on city police director Senior Supt. Leony Roy Ga to beef up security in the hinterland barangay.
