Butuan City — Agusan National High School (ANHS) and the Butuan City Special Education (Sped) here were both crowned as the over all-champion in the secondary and elementary rankings at the recently concluded Butuan’s Division School Press Conference.

Butuan City School Paper Advisers Association, Inc. revealed that a total of 1,552 students participated the DSPC from private and public elementary and high schools throughout the city

For the secondary, the over-all champion went to Agusan National High School with 159 points; second spot went to Philippine Science High School-Caraga Campus with 148 points; Libertad National High School with 124 points got the third spot; fourth went to Father Saturnino Urios University – Morelos Campus with 118 and the 5th went to Timber City Academy garnering 90 points.

For the elementary, Butuan City Sped Center was declared champion with141 points; Butuan Central Elementary School got the 2nd spot with 134; 3rd for Rainbow of Angels Learning Center, Inc at 113 points; 4th went to Ampayon Central Elementary School at 96 points and then 5th spot to Enfant Cheri Study Centre, Inc. with 70 points.

Dr. Ma. Dinah D. Abalos, Division Journalism Coordinator pointed out that the top seven best writers journalist would compete in the 2018 Regional School Press Conference.

“The top seven best writers and journalist from the DSPC will be competing on Nov. 5-9 in Buenavista town for the RSPC. But before that, we will train all qualifiers, we will be training and conduct a writeshop for the top seven winners in all events together with your journalism advisers and coaches and preparation for the RSPC,” said Abalos.

Romeo O. Aprovechar, Schools Division Superintendent emphasized the qualities that makes a campus journalist special.

“My dear journalists, it is said that the pen is mightier than the sword. The sword cut the lives of thousands of enemies but the country’s freedom was regained through the power of the pen,” said Aprovechar.
