As I’m sure you all know – the biggest news in the country this week is our hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, where more than 20 world leaders including US President Barack Obama and representatives from the member-economies of the APEC blog participated.

Now I won’t delve into the formalities of the summit. I will leave that to the experts. Instead, let’s discuss something lighter (and a little more interesting for the ladies and the ladies-at-heart!) – the charming #APEChotties!

Two handsome and attractive world leaders have caught the attention of many Filipinos – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. They really stirred so much attention that people (including me) started using the hashtag #APEChottie to describe them. And who wouldn’t? They’re two eye candies who seem to implement interesting politics. In fact, my tweets garnered a lot of retweets and “likes”!

Trudeau, for one, has the most diverse cabinet. And when asked why he chose many females to work alongside him, his answer was epic: “Because it’s 2015.” Nieto, on the other hand, is currently on his third year of tenure as President of Mexico. He’s been in the Forbes List of the World’s Most Powerful People twice, has a Bachelor’s degree in Law PLUS an MBA. Be still, my heart!

So, who do you fancy? The Mexican Papi or the Canadian bae? Share your comments. This is just for fun, folks.

In other news, I was monitoring the APEC CEO Summit (see, I just didn’t monitor cuties!) and one product stood out: a lamp that could be powered by only the power of salt and water. How interesting, right?

Filipina Engr. Aisa Mijeno, founder of Sustainable Alternative Lighting or SALt, shared the stage with Pres. Obama and Alibaba’s Jack Ma. She talked about the SALt lamp that only needed 1 glass of water and 2 tablespoons of salt in order for it to work for 8 hours. Although the lamp isn’t available for retail sale yet, it’s now in the mass production stage. Imagine how this lamp can help light far-flung communities or areas that only rely on kerosene or battery powered lamps and candles. * Now before anyone complains, let me just say that, yes, I am aware of the 50 container vans of waste that were illegally shipped to the Philippines from Canada last July 2013. And, yes, I also signed that petition to ask Canada to take those container vans back.
