THE LOCAL Finance Committee chaired by city councilor Edna Dahino has challenged the officials and employees of the City Public Services Department (CPSD) to do its task “seriously” after the committee approved its P40 million budget.
Dahino told Rowena Almeda, CPDS acting-administration officer on Friday’s budget approval to show the members of the city council its program on how their office will clean the city streets and main thoroughfares more effectively.
“(The) CPDS (has) 110 permanent employees and 41 casuals street sweepers in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the center islands, street cleaners and all area assigned with the maintenance of cleanliness, beautification, and greening of city’s parks and plazas,” she said.
The areas named that needed to be cleaned effectively and regularly were the public markets in Carmen, Cogon, and Agora, Poblacion 2-A and Poblacion 2-B.
Almeda admitted that they do not have any serious training on housekeeping.
Dahino said she challenged Alameda to maximize the requested P40 million and be translated into a cleaner city.
“Kinahanglan kini nga ipalihok na gayud,” she added.
The CPDS is also responsible for maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation around City Hall premises, comfort rooms, hallways, corridors, and quadrangle and fixing of minor electrical facilities at City Hall buildings.
