BUTUAN City––Some 15 fully armed men burned a Davao-bound container van loaded with boxes of banana along the highway in Barangay Liafrimco, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, on Wednesday afternoon.
The bananas are said to be that of Dole Philippines.
Police identified the driver of the container van, bearing license plates PIUU 343, as Roel Rodriguez. The vehicle was bound to Panabo City, Davao del Norte from Barangay Dayo-an, Tago, Surigao del Sur.
Investigation results show the van was stopped by armed men, and tje drivers and other workers were ordered to step down.
Police said the armed group then then shot the van, and burned it.
