The 61-year old Baguiz was stabbed to death in Sitio Kibawikin, Barangay Malinao. He succumbed to four stab wounds.

Investigators said an armed group blocked his way, and attacked the leader of the Gintong Araw religious group.

Baguiz was handcuffed, dragged 30 meters from his pickup truck, and then killed.

Police said witnesses counted at least six men with high-powered firearms who attacked Baguiz.

One of the still unidientified killers was also quoted as saying, “Daghan kinabuhi nga iyang giutang sa pulis pa siya ug kinabuhi pud ang iyang ibayad.”

Police said Baguiz survived a gun attack at the Agora 10 years ago. He had sustained a gunshot wound in the head.

Baguiz was rushed to the Sanitariium Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
