City Mayor Oscar Moreno assisted in the unveiling of the more than 21 different artworks.

The artworks were rendered in mix media like charcoal, oil paint, acrylic paint, and heat chemical on canvass.

Pie Diokno-Garcia, a member of Artsada Kagay-an, said most of the paintings represent biblical and religious beliefs.

Marigold Cherrie Garido, founder of Artsada Kagay-an, said the artworks express the artists’ sentiments on religion against real every day situations.

Garido said the artists also expressed their individual sentiments about the present administration with the Marawi siege, war against drugs as its backdrop.

Moreno congratulated the group of local artists in this city.

“This is the first exhibit I visited. I congratulate you in expressing your idea (through art),” said Moreno.

The 18-member Artsada Kagay-an bannered the theme “Iconography” for this year’s exhibit.

“This is our seventh year in displaying our artworks here. We do it every October of each year,” Edgardo Palad, a member of Artsada Kagay-an, said.
