IS it bad blood or a mere case of incompatibility? Something must be going on between the Pimentels and the Emanos.

When Oca Moreno ran against Dongkoy Emano in the city, the Pimentels were clearly for the former. How much their support impacted on Moreno’s victory may be difficult to ascertain. But the presence of the old Pimentel during Moreno’s inauguration as city mayor, and the way he was treated told a story of great respect and sense of gratitude. Was it?

The story of correspondent Nitz Arancon about PDP-Laban planning on fielding its own set of candidates “in case Mayor Oscar Morneo runs for governor of the province again to prevent a likely comeback bid of ex-mayor Vicente Emano” is quite intriguing.

A throwback to the not-so-distant past was a story from political grapevine that the Pimentels are pulling the strings of politics in the city, and that what’s happening in the city is being orchestrated by the Old Guard (Nene Pimentel) to erase the Emanos from the face of the city and province. If there’s been a grudge between the two political kingpins, we could only think of the humiliating defeat of Koko in the hands of Dongkoy in the past––15-0.

Of course, 15-0 was not a product of honest elections. From a bet of edging Koko by more than 20 thousand votes to a 15-0 two weeks before election, it was clear that the election was already over even before the ballots were cast.

One way to win a battle is to confuse the enemy.

In the history of the city’s politics, no defeated incumbent mayor has so far made a successful comeback. The clamor for change was too loud to ignore. But change was not to come by that easy because many are now finding the incumbent no better than his predecessor. For that, Dongkoy has found a glimmer of hope to come back.

The clamor for Rufus Rodriguez to run has suffered a terrible setback due to the BBL. After gathering more than 7,000 signatures, the campaign would likely be put on hold until the dust of condemnation settles down, after which, his supporters believe Rufus can still recover politically.

Who is PDP-Laban going to field as candidate for mayor? It can’t be Roger Abaday. If PDP-Laban has an alliance with the CDP, then it could only be Rufus. It could only be Rufus who can win over Dongkoy hands down. Dongkoy knows this only too well.

Going back to the province, is it Julio Uy, Peter Unabia or Oscar Moreno? Uy should keep his turf (Villanueva) secure. Unabia has the money that Uy doesn’t. Moreno has the LP to back him up. Either of the two (Unabia or Moreno) would need the undivided attention of Dongkoy for Bambi to survive.

What if Moreno seeks reelection? Well, take it from the people. Dongkoy might just break the myth.

If Rufus becomes the mayor and Moreno the governor, Pimentel can sleep soundly thereafter. Sweet vengeance, they say!

Former Taglimao barangay chairman William Guialani is hell-bent to see Moreno suspended or go to jail. He filed charges against the mayor and his ilk. He pursues the cases doggedly, getting all possible documents related to the cases. Anything involving legal matters, he researches them or consults lawyers. That is why he has ready documents to show and laws to cite.

One needs not have lice infestation to make him scratch his head. Sometimes, even a single louse can make itchy head unbearable.
