In a brief meeting with reporters, Aquino said he was going to attend the opening of the call center at MSU-IIT, a joint endeavor of the University and the Department of Trade and Industry.

He also said he has two legislative measures that are about to be enacted into law: the bill providing for free college education to indigent students and another one which aims to provide for free Wi-Fi facilities in public places.

The bill providing for free college education allows indigent students to obtain higher education without many pre-conditions like other scholarships granted by the government, he said.

The bill providing for free Wi-Fi in public places allows internet access to everyone especially small businessmen who would be able to engage in business through the Internet.

He added that the government should allow small businesses to start and grow strong enough to become sustainable before imposing taxes.

After meeting with the local press, the senator spoke before the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session where he told the City Council about the purpose of his visit and his bills that are about to be enacted.

He also told the council of his legislative agenda that are all geared towards economic development and raising the living standards of the Filipino.

When the session formally resumed, Councilor Petronilo Pardillo sponsored a resolution adopting Senator Bam Aquino as a “son of Iligan.” The resolution passed without any opposition.
