This was announced yesterday in Lagonglong town, Misamis Oriental, by Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano as he heaped praises upon his father for his work as a peace negotiator when he was governor.

“Wala nay laing gobernador ang nakahimo sa susama,” said the younger Emano, citing the successful local peace talks in this part of the country after the 1986 Edsa Revolution during the administration of Corazon Aquino.

The elder Emano, now a septuagenarian, has neither agreed nor rejected his son’s proposal.

The capitol has however retained the services of the former governor as its peace consultant supposedly for a token fee of P1 a year.

The younger Emano said he has formally asked his father to lead the peace negotiations.

“Ang iyang kasinatian sa 1986 localized peace talks… ako nang gisulatan si Mayor Dongkoy Emano nga hinay-hinayan na pagsugod ang local peace talks,” he said.

Gov. Emano said the local peace talks would start as soon as the capitol receives guidelines from President Duterte.

Emano said the capitol’s negotiators would include representatives of local governments, religious sector, National Police and the Army.
