THE provincial board’s appropriations committee yesterday started hearing Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano’s proposed P2.723-billion budget for the capitol for 2018.

Provincial board member Vincent Pelaez presided over the first of a series of budget hearings at Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s session hall.

Emano, in his proposed budget, sought a P1.180 billion for social services, and some P910.80 million and P631.85 million for general public services and economic services, respectively, according to provincial board member Wayne Militante, chairman of the provincial board’s committee on ways and means.

Militante said social services received 43.4 percent of Emano’s proposed 2018 budget while general public services got 33.4.percent, and economic services, 23.2 percent.

Emano also sought some P759 million for personnel services,  P503.95 million for maintenance and other operating expenses, P81.55 million for capital outlay.

His proposed special purpose fund amounts to P704 million while budgetary requirements and subsidy amount to P674.78 million.
