Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano welcomed them and presented the contestants during a news conference at the provincial government’s  training center.

Emano said the capitol played host to them to show that Misamis Oriental has remained peaceful despite the ongoing crisis in strife-torn Marawi City.

Capitol officials would bring the group to Jasaan  town today, and show them the Agutayan Island which the provincial government has been promoting.

Emano said the group would also be brought to various waterfalls in the province.

“Would you believe  we have more than 70 water falls in the whole province. It’s amazing,” Emano told the young women.

The candidates would stage a mini-fashion show at Centrio Mall at 4 pm today.

“For Miss Philippines-Earth  to come and visit us   would hopefully  start healing  the wounds  of what  has  happened   in Marawi. Please tell the whole world  that it is safe to come to  Misamis Oriental,  Cagayan de Oro, and its neighboring provinces,” Emano told the group.

Melissa Veneracion, vice  president of Carousel Production which is organizing the pageant, said all the 40 candidates are scheduled to go to Palawan for their long gown competition on July 1. The grand coronation night would be held at the Mall of Asia in Pasay on July 15.

Whoever wins will represent the country to the search for Miss Earth International on Oct. 28.
