A MEMBER of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit was killed while another was wounded in a shootout near Xavier Heights on Masterson Ave. yesterday afternoon.

The victims were identified as SPO2 Lynde  Baltazar, and SPO1  Serge de Constantine Maceren who later died in a hospital.

Baltazar was wounded in the left shoulder while Maceren was shot to the chest. He succumbed at the Madonna and Child Hospital in Carmen.

Police identified the suspect as Adelao Abdul Rahim of Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Rahim was rushed to the JR Borja Memorial General Hospital due to a gunshot wound in the right shoulder.

Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon, city police director, said the shootout took place after the RHPU officers flagged down a Hyundai car with license plates ULI-448.

Aganon said the police officers stopped the vehicle because they sensed something was wrong with the license plates.

Police said there were three people — two male and a female — in the vehicle.

The other man managed to escape and the woman was brought to Carmen police precinct.

SPO4 Fernando Lapoña said the woman is still being interrogated at presstime.
