Chief Insp. Jasper Ian E. Pasco, of Police  Station 5 at Poblacion, this city said at around 7:10 am Thursday, an unattended baggage was discovered at the opposite side of the road fronting the Bureau of Internal Revenue along Don Gregorio Avenue, Palao, here.

However, a check on the package, which was wrapped in a  colorful Christmas blue wrapper with a red ribbon, turned out to be empty.

“Wala’y sulod ang maong box sa dihang gisusi kini sa atong mga investigator,” this city’s police director Senior Supt. Leonroy Ga told Gold Star Daily.

The bomb scare yesterday morning comes at the heels of a grenade lobbing incident on Wednesday evening at the city’s Freedom Park. The grenade blast injured four persons.

In another development, at around 8 am, yesterday a fire emergency was reported at the RCBC grounds the upper portion of which was the Iligan Computer Institute.

A thick column of smoke was seen coming out of the computer school.

The fire though was put out in time with no blaze coming out of the smoke. However, some students reportedly experience dizzy spells and were rushed to a nearby hospital. (with reports from nitz arancon)
