Iligan City — The body of a boy who fell into an open drainage canal at the height of the floods here early last week has not been found as of press time.

According to his father Danilo in an interview by this paper, his son Johnder V. Martinez, 12, was on his way home from his classes at Holy Family School at Suarez, this city when he fell into an open drainage canal a few hundred meters away from their home at zone Taurus, Purok Neptune of said barangay.

The father added that up to this time, he is still restless as search and retrieval efforts by the barangay proved fruitless. The umbrella that was carried by the boy was found though but nothing else. The boy carried with him a back pack then containing his school things being a grade 5 pupil of said school and these were not found too.

Police at Station 2 at Nonocan placed the time of said incident at 4:30  pm of Jan. 16 whereby many parts of Mindanao were ravaged by the floods. It was learned that Suarez barangay was among those badly hit with the flood waters rising to as much waist-deep specially those portions near the drainange canals.
