In a six-page decision, a copy of which was furnished this paper on Saturday, Supreme Court Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr., HRET chairman, ordered the local Comelec office and treasurer’s office to turn over 204 ballot boxes used in the city’s 1st District in the 2016 elections.

Darimbang has questioned the proclamation of Rep. Rolando Uy and the results of the congressional election in the city’s 1st District last year. The former councilor challenged Uy’s reelection bid in the 2016 elections.

The ballot boxes contain the voters’ registration records, books of voters, election day computerized voters lists, and other election documents and paraphernalia.

Velasco said the allegation in Darimbang’s petition warrant the collection of ballot boxes, documents and paraphernalia.

The cost of bringing the ballot boxes and election documents to the Tribunal, and returning them after the termination of the case, as well as the compensation of the revisors, would be charged to Darimbang who requested the revision.
