Teachers, students, and parents in the Bukidnon-based Dalirig Elementary School all had their hands on deck on a Tuesday morning, as they prepared a feast to celebrate one of the biggest activities to happen at the school.

AboitizPower subsidiary Hedcor turned over a single-storey, two-classroom building, which came with tables, arm chairs, and spacious comfort rooms.

For two months, teachers and students at Dalirig Elementary School witnessed the construction of the new facility as it was built right behind their old classrooms. The project is a collaboration between Hedcor Bukidnon, Inc. and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. as part of their initiative to advance their partner communities through education.

The beneficiaries did not hold back on expressing their joy and gratitude over the new school building, with selected students performing the Kaamulan, a native dance in the Bukidnon province, which signifies thanksgiving. Parents and teachers alike were generous in their efforts to make the ceremony even more festive, providing a sumptuous lunch for everyone and preparing the venue for the event.

Manolo Fortich Mayor Clive Quino led the turnover ceremony and sincerely expressed his gratitude over the said initiative.

Lahi ang business culture sa Hedcor. They do not engage with community just for business but rather they want to bring change to the community, and change comes from education,,” Quino said. (pr)
