VALENCIA City – The City Government of Valencia has successfully spearheaded the opening program of the 116th Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit Para Sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani, at Kalikasan”.

The month-long celebration aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism in public service anchored on the concept of “malasakit” or compassion with action for health, the environment, deserving public servants, and the Filipino public who are the clients of government service offices.

City Councilor Edwardo D. Chan, Committee Chair on Civil Service and Laws, welcomed the participants and gave his support to the celebration. According to him, the kind of celebration helps promote heroism and camaraderie in public service.

Mayor Azucena P. Huervas, in her speech, said that the celebration also help ensure the transformation of every government employee into a “lingkod bayani”.

“Our people demand and expect nothing less from us in the government but excellent quality of addressing the concerns of our people and see to it that their economic and social needs are met,” Huervas said.

Huervas added that all local government employees must always keep a harmonious relationship with their colleagues and never forget their responsibility as a public servant.

Lourdes B. Pelaez, Acting Director II of CSC Bukidnon Field Office, gave thanks to the city government for its unwavering support to the programs of the Civil Service Commission and for spearheading such event that will boost the self-esteem and morale of the government employees.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the lighting of cauldron which was headed by Mayor Huervas to signal the opening of the sport events which is participated by various offices, agencies and department. (Aron Apolstol Rempohito)
