Cafgu killed in clash with Reds in Davao city

DAVAO City — A member of the Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) was killed in an encounter with the New People’s Army in Paquibato District here over the weekend.

Major Ezra Balagtey, Joint Task Force Haribon civil-military officer said CAA Allan Macla Lausan was killed in an encounter with an undetermined number of NPAs in the Damilag Patrol Base located in Sitio Damilag, Barangay Mapula on Saturday.

CAAs are part of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu), a reserve program of the Armed Forces.

Balagtey said the military were able to seize six firearms in Sitio Ventura in Barangay Wines, Baguio District last Friday evening.

He said recovered were a Barrett rifle, an M14 rifle, a Garand rifle, a Thompson submachine gun, two shotguns and ammunition after a military asset pointed the location of the NPAs makeshift camp, this city. (davaotoday.com)
