This according to newly-appointed Provincial Director Senior Supt. Rolando E. Destura in an interview adding that he requested more police from Camp Alagar to boost the island’s security for the duration of the festival.

“Although we have not monitored (any) serious security threat in the area, our police authorities have nonetheless laid out detailed security province-wide,” said Destura.

Despite no threats of terrorist attacks, Destura said they also tapped the Armed Forces to ensure visibility in all of their checkpoints.

Destura ordered that every luggage and every one entering the island to be thoroughly checked before embarking the ferry boat heading to Camiguin island.
