CARD Bank started its operations in Davao City in 2007. “We are thankful to have put up a simple and humble branch in Magallanes. This time, we have to step up for our clients’ best banking experience,” added Austria.

“As client of CARD Bank, I am overwhelmed by its growth in leaps and bounds. The bank is truly a banking institution that is for the poor and its commitment to continuously improve and innovate for the benefit of its clients is commendable,” said Ruby Coma, client and former Board of Director of the bank.

The opening was simultaneously done along with the re-opening of BotiCARD Inc., a pharmacy, and transfer of office of CARD Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (CARD MBA), microinsurance company. The two institutions, including CARD Bank, are members of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI).

The initiative to place the three institutions in one building, according to CARD MBA CEO May Dawat, is for CARD MRI to give its clients the “one stop microfinance services” feels. “When clients are done with their banking transactions, they may visit our microinsurance office to get to know more of the best safety nets for their families,” added Dawat.

“BotiCARD is also open from Monday to Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM, to respond to the health needs of its clients and the general public,” said Rosenda Aquino, president of BotiCARD, adding that the clients of CARD are entitled of 20% discount in all generic medicines.

Some products of Mga Likha ni Inay, the company of CARD MRI that links grassroots microentrepreneurs to the mainstream market, are also available in the pharmacy.

As CARD MRI continues its journey to 5-8-40 strategic direction, where in five years starting 2016, CARD MRI will reach eight million clients and insure 40 million individuals, more clients are expected to become part of this social movement wherein they help themselves be alleviated from poverty through microfinance and community-based development programs offered by CARD MRI group.

CARD MRI is a group of 21 mutually reinforcing institutions with a common goal of eradicating poverty in the country. (PR)
