DAVAO City – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) expects about 4,000 children here to view its Money Matters for Kids Exhibit (MMK), a more expanded drive promoting the value of saving in banks and the concept of money at an early age.

Atty. Prudence Angelita Kasala, BSP director for Financial Consumer Protection Department, said it would be the first time they were bringing the exhibit to Mindanao since it was launched in 2011. The exhibit opened on Monday at the BSP Davao regional office and will run for public viewing until July 17.

Kasala said the MMK was an interactive exhibit on financial literacy designed to provide young children aged 12 and below with a fun way of learning the concepts of money, saving, wise spending and sharing.

According to her, BSP’s financial literacy focused on children to instill savings habits at an early age. “We need to teach children the values of savings and wise spending,” Kasala said.

One of the features of the exhibit is a make-believe bank where children can play roles as bank managers and tellers. There is also a mock-up Automated Teller Machine (ATM) that would enable them to learn about bank accounts, make deposits and withdrawals. pia
