Along with representatives of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Goking led the tour of the visiting foreign dignitaries here yesterday.

Kung naa sila’y investment makahatag kini og dako nga chances to give us more job opportunities. Gigamitan nato og native language nga akong nahibaloan labi na sa Chinese mao nga gihagit nako sila nga butangan sa ilang negosyo ang Cagayan de Oro,” he said.

Goking met the Chinese dignitaries when he represented the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) in welcoming Chinese delegates and officials during the Mindanao Council for the Promotion of Reunification in the Philippines held in Davao City over the weekend.

In their regular session on Tuesday, Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy led the City Council in commending Goking for representing PCL members in the entire country and the city.

Uy said Goking brought pride of the country and to the city during the Mindanao Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China in the Philippines program held at Waterfront Hotel in Davao City.

Goking who is the president of PCL-Cagayan de Oro Chapter was chosen by Ambassadors from China to speak before dignitaries and Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials from China before the oath-taking ceremony.

Aside from being speaker, he was brought along with other officials in the country including President Rodrigo Duterte to visit the three Chinese naval ships which were docked last Sunday for customary visits aimed to deepen maritime security cooperation between the country and the Chinese Government amid the disputed territory issues.

The three naval ships are composed of a guided-missile destroyer, guided-missile frigates, and replenishment ship of the Chinese Navy.

The Chinese ship was accordingly headed by Rear Admiral Shen Hao of East China Sea Fleet of the People Revolution Army Navy.

Goking who chairs the City Council Committee on Trade, Commerce and Industry said he successfully invited China dignitaries and investors to pour-in their investment here in the city.

In his message, he called on the beauty of working as one unified body.

“For many administrative generations of our local government, there has been conflict in the activities of the city council. When I had my chance to step up to the challenge of serving the people, the first thing I imagine is a unified city council. Despite our difference in political alignment, sectoral interest, and other contradicting principles; I know for a fact, that without a unified city council, the progress of Cagayan de Oro City will once again be put on hold,” he said.
