It may be recalled that several complaints of some residents of the barangay regarding the alleged foul odor emanating from the area.

The committee was informed that last year the City Legal Office issued a cease and desist and temporary closure order against the said business.

It was learned that last October, City Mayor Oscar Moreno approved the resolution and the recommendation for its temporary closure.

During the meeting, a representative of City Legal Office confirmed that the owner did not comply with the issued order. She said the owner claimed that they already cleaned the area.

“Why is it dili maimplement ang order?… They continue to operate despite the fact that already ordered for temporary closure of business,” she said.

For his part, Antonio Resma of the City Legal Office said the barangay did not issue the business clearance to the owner because of the pending complaint of the residents.

He said under the local government code every business should first comply with a barangay clearance requirement before the city issues the needed business permit, unless the barangay does not act upon the request within seven days. (cli)
