THE Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. yesterday installed a flow meter that resulted in hours of low water pressure and even a water supply disruption in many parts of the city.

The disruption was due to the installation of a 600-millimeter diameter flow meter for the east pipeline along with valves and additional stubouts, according to Ladelle Sagrado, water district spokesperson.

The Cobi installation adversely affected some parts of barangays Camaman-an, Gusa, Lapasan and Cugman starting at  10 am. The water supply was expected to be back at 2 am today.

In an advisory sent to this paper by the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD), it was explained that the valves and stubouts are designed for future pipe extensions and expansion purposes.

Meanwhile, the flow meter would provide the water district’s bulk water supplier, Cobi, an accurate and regular flow data of the east water pipeline.
