THE water supply in western areas of the city up to Opol town in Misamis Oriental plunged again after the Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (Cobi) shut down one of its pumps for the nth time.

In an advisory on Wednesday, the Cagayan de Oro Water District said the Cobi delivery was reduced to 43 million liters per day as a result of the Cobi pump shutdown.

As a result, COWD said areas in its western service area started experiencing low water pressure or no water supply at all during peak hours.

Cobi has been contracted by COWD to provide a water supply of 60 million liters per day but the aging facilities in Cobi’s water treatment plant in Baungon, Bukidnon, kept on conking out — this has become a recurring problem.

The water district said Cobi shut down one of its pumps due to a problem with its inner bearing.  It said pump internal check-up and repair are being facilitated as presstime.

COWD apologized for the nth time for the inconvenience.
