Iligan City — A construction worker was killed after he was electrocuted while he was standing near a street light where a lamp post of the Iligan Light and Power, Inc. was located.

The victim was identified as Dan Michael Piquet, 25, of Purok Sto. Niño, Lower Taytay, Ditucalan, this city. The incident happened at around 7:30 pm, Oct. 16.

Piquet was rushed to the Don Gregorio Lluch Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is now at Capin Funeral Homes.

According to the report of Police Station 2 at Nunucan under Station Commander PS1 Dexter Sabayton Ceniza, the accident was due to a stray wire of the post that touched the body of Piquet, as related by live-in partner Joy Soronio, 19.

As a result, Piquet suffered wounds in the neck, and legs.

It was learned that the family is thinking of filing charges against the Ilpi for the incident.
