Coop bent on running power plant: Ravanera

THE Cooperative Develop-ment Authority (CDA) is working and pursuing plans to make the Pulangi hydroelectric power plant in Bukidnon owned by a cooperative in order to bring down power rates.

CDA Chairman Orlando Ravanera said the Authority is supporting the 1-Mindanao  Energy Cooperative as it prepares documents needed to bid for the Pulangi power plant in Maramag town.

The 1-Mindanao Energy Cooperative has four million members, according to Ravanera, and it would bid against firms like the Ayala Group.

Ravanera said that if the cooperative  succeeds in its bid, he was certain the power rates in Mindanao would be reduced.

He said the cooperative is planning on bidding for the Agus hydroelectric power complex. (nitz arancon)
