Loreto police chief Insp. Aldrin Salinas said placed the street value of the seized marijuana at some P6.6 million.

He brought and presented the catch to Caraga police regional director Chief Supt. Rolando Felix yesterday morning.

Salinas said what happened was that the police quickly responded when they received reports from concerned citizens about an illegal drug deal taking place in Barangay Waloe, some 16 kilometers from the town proper.

He said the dealers and their buyers scampered when they sensed that the police were coming, leaving the sacks of marijuana in the area.

Salinas did not say if they have identified suspects, and how the suspects learned that the police were coming.
