COUNCILOR Romeo Calizo on Friday said the city council would summon city police director Ronnie Francis Cariaga again and ask him to give a detailed report about the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s (Cocpo) fresh campaign against illegal gambling operations in the city.

Calizo said this in the wake of Cariaga’s claim that Cocpo has already “eradicated” illegal lotto operations in the city in less than a month.

Cariaga has yet to show data that would validate his claim that Cocpo has already “eradicated” illegal lotto operations in the city. He has not shown any list of suspects caught and charged or illegal lotto outlet operators whom he said “volunteered” to stop.

Kinahanglan nga mohatag siya ug update sa ilang operations against all forms of illegal  gambling aron  atong ma-assist ang ilang law enforcement,” said Calizo.

But Calizo said the city council would respect any confidential information that Cariaga may want to withhold provided that the police could justify it.

Na-a man gud nang rules of confidentiality. Ato pod nga irespito kon dunay mga information nga dili niya mahatag, kay ang atong mga pulis, ato sab nga hatagan sa ilang protection nga dili sab makasuhan,” Calizo said.

He said Cariaga would either be summoned to the city council plenary or the legislative body’s police committee “sa insaktong panahon.” Calizo is the committee’s chairman.

Ato sa nga oberbahan kon unsa gyud ka ipiktibo ang ilang police operations sa paglakag sa illegal  gambling,” Calizo said.
