Aside from providing potable water to the city, the Cagayan de Oro City Water District (Cowd) does its share in improving the quality of life of the people in the community by helping promote education, environment protection and culture preservation.

Last May 20, Cowd provided various school materials to the students of Balongkot Elementary School, located in Dansolihon. Currently, the school has a population of 110 students. Its students are mostly lumads belonging to the Higaonon tribe. Aside from the school materials, Cowd also donated water jugs and liquid hand soap. The Cowd Information staff encouraged the children to frequently wash their hands and keep their bodies clean in order to prevent getting sick.
