A CULTIST who claimed to have heard voices boloed to death his own wife, beheaded his three-year old son and killed his three other children in a village in Valencia City, Bukidnon over the weekend.

The suspect, 34-year old Ramon Saballa, was caught by members of the barangay tanod in Sitio Ambangon in Barangay Lilingayon, Valencia, hours after the gruesome murders in a neighboring sitio.

Police said Saball has been described as a very prayerful member of the Christianity spin-off Sagrado Corazon Senor cult, also known as “Tadtad,” who claimed to have killed his family because he was prodded by voices in his head.

Valencia police director Al Abinales said Saballa allegedly boloed and killed his wife Rosemarie, 30, and children Rose, 13, Arnold, 10, Annabelle, 9, and Ryan, 3. The three-year-old was decapitated.

Abinales said Saballa spared his youngest child, one-year old Angeline, because he was supposedly “instructed” by the “voices he heard” to leave his daughter untouched.

The victims were attacked while they were sleeping. Two of the elder children who were roused from their sleep tried to escape but were killed outside.

Police said the murders were committed in the house of the Saballas in Sitio Kibalog,  Barangay Lilingayon, Valencia at around 2 am Saturday.

Abinales said crime scene investigators found many used candles in the house of the Saballas.

Abinales said Saballa admitted to killing his family, except his youngest child, because he received “instructions from invisible beings.”

The lone survivor is now under the care of her grandfather Christiodes Bacaldo.

Barangay tanod members caught a bolo-wielding Saballa in a neighboring sitio at around 6 am, and handed him over to the Valencia police.

At the crime scene, police found members of the Saballa family bathed in their own blood. The bodies of two Saballa children––13-year old Rose and 10-year old Arnold––were found near banana plants near the house.

Abinales said the murders were unthinkable in that Saballa was known as a very prayerful man without vices, and who spent much of his time working and praying in his farm.

“People who knew him said Saballa spent much time praying especially after he was done with his work in the farm,” said Abinales.

He said the used candles found in Saballa’s house were used by the suspect in his religious rituals.

Police are set on pressing charges of “multiple parricide” against Saballa tomorrow. Monday and Tuesday were holidays in Valencia.
