FORMER Vice Mayor Antonio Soriano opined there is a need to amend the city’s 22-year old curfew ordinance to be effective.

The amendment, Soriano added, should include a provision that parents of minors who violate the ordinance should also be penalized.

He said the reactivation of City Ordinance No. 4373-94 on June 1 was not effective because the ordinance has been overruled by Republic Act 7344 or the “Pangilinan Law.”

He added that penalizing the parents of minor who violate the Curfew Ordinance is not in violation of the 1987 Constitution.

He said he is offering free legal advise to incoming Vice Mayor Joaquin Rainier Uy in amending the Curfew Ordinance and other city ordinances which are “obsolete.”

Bahala nag walay atong dawaton nga suweldo, basta kay makatabang ta,” Soriano said. (Nitz Arancon)
