CWPC, Moresco-2 sign MOU for wireless broadband

Misamis Oriental II Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO II) late last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Community Wireless and Power Corporation (CWPC) on March 7, 2019.

The MOU marks the official partnership of both parties in establishing Local Government Unit (LGU) Wireless Broadband Network and LED Retrofits through the MORESCO II Franchise areas utilizing CWPC’s eSmart Light Emitting Diode (LED) Lighting Solutions which will be provided at no capital expenditure to each LGU, if approved, in accordance with the eSmart LED and financing program under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) to reduce power consumption under a shared savings model to be negotiated in final agreement.

Earlier, the CWPC, a consortium of top technology experts, entrepreneurs and investors that aims to implement sustainable and affordable internet and energy throughout the Philippines and throughout the Asia Pacific region, was launched last Thursday, February 28, at the Phividec Industrial Authority’s Board Room in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

According to James McCorkle of CWPC, the installation of the streetlights, Wi-Fi and CCTV in Magsaysay will begin as soon after the memorandum of agreement between CWPC and the local government unit of Magsaysay has signed as well as the memorandum of understanding between CWPC and Moresco II.

CWPC announced last February 28, 2019 during its launching that the Municipality of Magsaysay would be the first one to go with its 300 Streetlights to be upgraded under CWPC’s eSmart Philippines Energy Service Company (ESCo) Program also adding fast and reliable broadband services in its territory, with the end goal of providing free public and cost effective WIFI to its constituents.
