City Councilor Dr. Reuben Daba, chairman of city council’s committee on social responsibility said he is angry at Nery who have continuously dodged the invitation of the committee since last year.

In public, Daba that he is already annoyed and expressed his sentiments during the weekly meeting of the city council’s committee on health, sanitation and health insurance chaired by City Councilor Dr. Maria Lourdes Gaane held last Friday morning.

Daba said the act of Nery in not attending any meeting at the city council is somehow daring the other councilors to declare him persona non-grata.

Daba suggested looking into the house rules and procedure before the city council if they can impose on government individual who did not issue any refusal letter not to attend any committee meeting agreed.

“Other department heads are always here despite short notices being given by the committee. Ang ako lamang sakop man kaha kami. Is it the sign of arrogance, dili man unta ingon ana,” she added.

For her part, Gaane claimed that the issue has already reached Nery considering that he was reportedly the one who signed the reply on the committee invitation.

“I hope dili kini mahitabo nga ipasa-pasa ang matag problema. Kinahanglan nga hatagan kini og pagtagad,” she said.

Nery was asked to attend the committee meeting following a complaint raised by a city hall employee that she sought medical assistance but was ignored inside the city hospital.

In his letter sent to the city council, Nery said he could not attend the meeting considering that he is attending to a “personal problem.”

However, Daba countered that he received information that Nery’s got irked after members of the city council refused to approve his appointment as permanent chief of hospital.
