He pointed out that, as required by this law, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), through its relevant attached agencies, the city government and other concerned agencies, shall, as soon as possible, prepare a program on sewerage and septage management particularly in providing water supply and sewerage facilities and/or concessionaires in the City.

He said the law also requires hotels, private establishments and public facilities to install waste water treatment facility, adding that waste water in the city’s public markets have obnoxious odor.

As this developed, vice Mayor Uy referred the report to the committees on environment and natural resources, health and sanitation, social services and public works for appropriate action.

Ocon said representatives from the City Engineers Office, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 10, the Environmental Management Bureau-10, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-10, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office will be invited during the meeting to shed more light on the matter.
